3. Developers are greedy and casual games are where the money's at more now than ever.
Developers have known this for the last decade. It's the same rules that held last generation, and the generation before that as well. They haven't learned anything new; it's the same old strategies, but there's more consumers in the channel now.

GC launch: Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race: Blue Storm
Wii launch: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii Sports, Excite Truck

GC first post-launch holiday: Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing
Wii first post-launch holiday: Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Battalion Wars 2, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Fire Emblem: Dawn of Whatever

I really don't see where this exclusion of hardcore gamers is happening... it actually seems to be increasing to me...

Now compare the casual line-ups.

In other words, the plan didn't change, it's never going to change, but the profit numbers increase just a little bit, the gaming world keeps running like always, and the wheels on the bus go round-and-round.

BTW, there's also a "Wii would like to play commercial" for Mario Strikers Charged.

Why does the casual line-up matter if their is a higher amount of hardcore games this generation? Unless you're the greedy gamer who doesn't want anything for casuals to enjoy. People need to understand that the casual and hardcore market isn't fighting for survival, they are coexisting peacefully and always have been.

I was just curious as to whether the casual section would have expanded at the same rate or not. Hopefully, Nintendo attempts to push both kinds equally, instead of drowning the more complex games with the more simple ones.

Like I said, I wasn't predicting any thing like the transformation of hardcore gamers to a niche market or something. But the whole "grannies buy Wii" thing is a trend which still worries me regardless.

@ Bold: Really, never saw it.
