I like this so far, there's only a handful of characters with stupid hair.

Edit: It also has lots of guns.

Reviews be damned, this is like my favourite Final Fantasy ever. I absolutely adore this thing.

Funny enough, it's not actually that different.

The biggest difference is party control. You only control the main actions of one character, but it's still all done on a timed attack basis with you having the ability to put other party members into "stances" - by default, they'll all attack your target, you can change it to dedicate someone to healing in certain situations and other combinations. It has a lot of flow the ability to pick actions while waiting for the guage to fill (and being able to interupt it and perform actions before it fills, if you've lined them up) means it doesn't feel like you're ever just waiting for a bar to fill to make an attack, rinse, repeat.

Plus, like I said, very little stupid hair and the setting is awesome, the characters aren't horrendously annoying (except Hope). It draws you in.

I dunno how far you are in but i find that Hope becomes actually not annoying but pretty badass.... well as badass as you can get for a kid

but hes got nothing on the black guy.... hes definatly the best character in this game, not only did he get what apears to be the best voice actor, but also the best backstory as well

Yeah, Hope is getting better.

I have to say, the battle system is still great, it's not just about attacks, it's also about selecting the best combination of stances for a particular unit.

I tend to leave Lightning as Commando though (I currently have Hope backing her up with Slash and Burn, Supersoldier and War and Peace).
