FF is shit now ever since the merge. Nomura is the last hope for the series.

Nomura's character designs have improved too, there's less belts and buckles for one thing. Still a large number of belts, more than in real life, but more sensible.

Noctis only seems to have three buckles, while Lightning has a mere 7 or 8.

Compare this to Lulu.

This game is really good so far. Yes, it is about the most linear RPG ever made, but the story, characters (with the exception of Vanille and Hope so far, one is annoying like Selphie or Rikku all over again, and the other is an emo bitch like Tidus), and the battles (pretty simple but exciting and some good challenge, and I kid you not, its faster paced than most Action RPGs ever get to be, despite being an ATB style battle system) are all awesome. I got the PS3 version btw, used at Gamestop for 49.49 in Edge credit, versus paying 64$ish new.

As noted above, Vanille and Hope become infinitely less annoying which, for me, made it a full set of characters who aren't shit in an FF game. I do, genuinely, like the story and characters.
