their DRM system is more or less steam without an external client.

You log into an account and play.

You more or less have it wrong.

Yes, Steam CAN do Offline mode, but only on the 1st computer you install it, or has a limited number of installs, assuming whatever you buy has some type of DRM. And you act like this not being able to do offline is the worst thing ever. I dunno about you, but I dont go rush and unplug my internet connection just because Im playing a computer game

If you're a serious computer gamer, your computer is hooked up to the internet. Simple as that. You aren't serious if its not hooked up.

And it is unlimited installs, just requires logging in to play.

broadband isent 100% stable its not unknown for it to go off for like 1-2 seconds, normal aplications such as a download wont even register the blip and continue as soon as the connection reastbilishes.... ubisofts DRM on the other hand.... LAWL GET OUT NOAW..... its not so much the DRM itself but how badely it is handled mainly on ubisofts part... there servers go down frequently for large periods of time, where talking hours here not minutes being unable to play a game simply becouse your company servers are down....

yes steam techniquely has the same problem HOWEVER how often do you think its been down in the last year? ubisofts is down constantly its like a lottery when you wake up on weather your going to be able to play there singleplayer only game or not just becouse there side of the internet is down due to hackers or them being shit (normally the latter)

its comments like "oh everyones online 24/7 anyway" that brings shit like this, its exactely the same as if you could only play your xbox games if your xbox live was online.... and make it so xbox live goes down for maint about twice a day

Ubisoft's DRM is retarded, my internet was down for a weekend a while back. I wouldn't have been able to play a game I would have legitimately paid for just because it needs to connect to a server. It's an assinine approach to anti-piracy measures anyway, all it does it inconvience legitimate buyers who may not have stable internet connections or may want to play their games elsewhere when they have no connection... hey, you know the way some laptops are gaming machines now?

Capcom recently tested new DRM on the PS3 as well with Final Fight, you have to be signed in to PSN to start the game.

As you had mentioned before, people were hacking their servers. Im sure these people were most likely people who pirate video games and were trying to find a way to work around their DRM. I don't know why a legitimate gamer who legitimately purchases video games would pull a stunt like that.

And honestly, AC2 hadn't had NEAR the issues with Uplay that Half Life 2 had with Steam at launch. Most people who bought the game were unable to play it at all like the 1st week or so because of the steam authentication

As you mentioned, hackers. Plus its a new system. Im sure its problems will be ironed out like Steam's were, Steam was initially hated too.

Dunno how often your internet goes down, but mine goes down once, maybe twice a year. My main problem is with this POS Belkin Router that stops working when it wants.
