CVG can confirm that Activision has pencilled in a November release for the seventh Call Of Duty - which will be set in the late 1960s, during the Vietnam War.

Following this week's rumours, a senior UK trade source today told us that the Treyarch-developed title is scheduled to arrive a full 12 months after last year's Modern Warfare 2.

They added that the game would be set during the Vietnam conflict - and takes particular influence from classic movies Apocalypse Now and Platoon.

"It's going to be November again - just as with World At War and Modern Warfare 2," they told CVG.

"Activision believes that it can own Christmas 2010, just as it has in the last two years.

"Development is on course - and Treyarch have been told the game must be ready to hit shelves before the gifting season."

Activision declined to comment when contacted by CVG.

OMG, what will we do w/o modern warfare?!?!?

I'm glad! Vietnam was a BRU-TAL war and this game can be awesome of Trey does it right.

come on rounds you knew the dev cycle of course it wasnt gonna be MW3. as for the subject matter im glad its not WW2 again but this may hit close to home for many especially with the brutality. in fact my father is a vietnam vet refuses to this day to talk about what he saw while on duty. one thing is fore sure i doubt very much activivision will push the envelope this time with exploding babies

Well, we've already had Iraq War games, so I'm guessing they don't think it's "too soon".

no but its the stigma of vietnam the way our vets were treated after all the terrible things that happened

There's a rumour going around that Infinity Ward aren't doing Modern Warfare 3.

I kind of hope the rumor is true, tbh. So much more can be done with the game than what IW has done with the latest. Not that the latest isn't great, but it could be even greater. Much greater.

That doesn't mean the next dev will do anything special either...

I put the over/under at a week before they make an announcement about the DLC that will also be released for the game.
