Here's the main obstacle. No one plays with handhelds EXACTLY the same distance from them at all times, which is why there's a slider to adjust depth, which is necessary to facilitate the different distance people use in a play session. I'm sure it works well under the controlled conditions of E3, tied to a lady or a booth, but the big test will come when people are using it... do they mess around with the slider while playing or just outright turn the 3D off. |

Wii games ,both good and bad ones, are constantly out selling everything on other consoles, even most PS2 games which has sold twice as many units as the Wii. not everyone is disappointed with the Wii

I'm fairly sure the 3D slider doesn't adjust the viewing hotspot to see the 3D, it just adjusts how much of a 3D effect there is. And the REASON nobody views their handheld at the same distance is because they currently don't need to. I don't think it's going to be incredibly difficult to learn to naturally hold the thing a certain distance away from your face. Quote:

The 3DS seems stupid to me. I have no qualms with my 2 DSIs I have now, so I feel there is little reason to upgrade. but... DS and Wii have taught me 2 things. 1. Never underestimate the selling power of Nintendo's IPs, no matter the platform. 2. Never underestimate the public's willingness to gobble anything up Nintendo. |

Well obviously, just look at the Gamecube. That console only survived because of games like Smash and Mario Sunshine. If you're happy with the DS, by all means don't upgrade. Of course, saying that is like saying "I'm fine with my GBA" in 2004. This is a successor, not another DSi, and you'll be missing out on all the new games if you don't upgrade.. But yeah, it's your choice obviously. I do want to play proper 3D games in 3D (we need two separate terms or something, lol) and it looks to be receiving a lot more love from third parties than the DS did when it started out. The other features are more or less bonuses to me. Me saying all this sounds funny after all that Wii bashing I did over the last year or two, lol |
