Default Music discussion thread

I was thinking about good threads for this forum to have, and I decided a thread where we could discuss music, anything about it, might be a good thing to have.

It just adds to what people can talk about here.

So, what types of music do you listen to?
do you play any instruments?

Personally, I listen to every genre of music.
I'm a aspiring musician myself, and can appreciate any form of music that takes talent to play.
I also play piano, which I'm decent at, and I'm starting to pick up guitar and bass.
I only know some basic scales and stuff on guitar, and can play most chords, so nothing advanced there.

How about for you guys!?

Edit:
Also, does anyone know of any good music recording programs for PC?
Also, where I can get drivers to use my Yamaha keyboard, for vista?
I can't find any...

I've never been a huge music fan, though I still have some favorites things to listen to.

I listen to various things. My favorite artist/signer would be Björk, if only because what she does is so different from everything else. Beside that I enjoy some local bands (Mes Aïeux, Les Cowboy Fringants, for those who know about them). I also enjoy listening to swing compilations.

Beside that, I particularly enjoy soundtracks, often because they offer a wide range of different styles on one disk. I especially enjoy the movie themes composed by Danny Elfman (Gremlins, Edward Scisorhand, Planet of the Apes, Spiderman, Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride...). And of course I enjoy listening to anime soundtracks, which has me currently hooked to many Anna Tsuchiya songs.

Bjork is amazing. Elfman too. Good choices for someone who isn't a big music fan.

Oh my goodness, Danny Elfman is a GOD.
I love anything he writes, nightmare before Christmas being one of my favorite musical movies ever, and definitely my favorite claymation movie.
Anything him and tim burton touch just turns to gold in my eyes.

I listen to pretty much anything and everything also my preference stays around the rock scene and occasionally veers into techno. As I type this I'm listening to Saosin. A band who, I have no idea why but I absolutely love. It just seems to have clicked with me despite the fact that I would consider it out of my usually genre.

Yea, me too actually.
In that my musical preference tends to hover around any form of indie rock to hard rock, although I love almost anything.
any rock band that can successfully use Piano in their songs is an instant win for me, like coldplay, or ben Folds, who are two of my favorite artists

You have to hum into a kazoo, it's a novelty instrument, but it's kind of fun.
