Default Thinking of getting a MacBook...

Just a suggestion:

I need a new laptop since I'm graduating of my major in English as a Second Language teacher in PR and I was looking at prices from the affordable MacBook (which looks sexy BTW), but I was wondering if any of you guys know if there is a computer with equal specs as the MacBook but cheaper???

I'm buying the laptop I choose in March and I'm just asking for your help here.

Thanks.

Micro center have good rebates on MacBooks that can go up to $200, keep an eye on them
other sellers too
don't buy directly from Apple, unless w/edu discount

I know of no laptop with the quality of the MacBook, features and up to 7 hrs battery that can be had for $999 (no sales tax in Delaware)

If you're looking for a Windows laptop instead, here's a good suggestion:

Newegg.com - TOSHIBA Satellite A505-S6998 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T9600(2.80GHz) 16" 6GB Memory DDR3 1066 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M - Laptops / Notebooks

I compared it to this Macbook

MacBook - Apple Store (U.S.)

Stat differences:

The Macbook for 999$

2.26GHz : 250GB

* 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 2GB DDR3 memory
* 250GB hard drive1
* 8x double-layer SuperDrive
* NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics

The Toshiba with Windows 7

Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.8G (advantage)
6GB DDR3 (advantage)
500GB HDD (advantage)
DVD Super Multi
NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M 1GB GDDR3 (advantage)

The Macbook does have better battery life, easily. Otherwise, you'd be a fool to not go with this. Now, you said you were using this for school. Most schools aren't ass backwards and will have spots for you to plug your laptop in, so battery life shouldnt be as big of an issue as performance.

I just bought this

Newegg.com - ASUS Eee PC 1201N-PU17-BK Black Intel Atom N330(1.60GHz) 12.1" WXGA 2GB Memory 250GB HDD NetBook - Netbooks

I emulate PS2 on it and play my PS2 games at work. Best purchase I've made in a while.

When did 12" screen laptops become netbooks? I thought they were supposed to be < 12"

But I just checed you can get the MacBook for as low as $847.99 from Micro center.
Micro Center - MacBook MC207LL/A

Regardless of price the MacBook is a purchase you wont regret, and will continue to run strong for many years to come.
Snow Leopard is a powerful and agile OS, you'll love it.

That and when update time Apple will charge you no more than $130 for update. In fact for us who updated from Leopard to Snow Leopard it was only $30.

It also has multitouch trackpad
