| Blames the lag. |
I am thinking about upgrading my Laptop so I can run Starcraft 2. HOPEFULLY it is cheaper than buying a new one. My current laptop is a couple years old its an HP Pavilion DV9000. Its stats/what I need replaced. Windows Vista (doesn't need replaced but somehow I would like to reset my PC to factory settings if anyone knows how to do such things so i can just start over) 120g Hard drive (not a big deal since I use portable drives) Bad video card (need to replace) 1.6 Ghz Processor (need to replace with a minimum 2.4 ghz Dual core) 2 GB ram (fine) What I need to know is. Is it really economical to do this? What...if any...of it can I install myself? Where should I go to get stuff? I am planning on trying out Best Buy to see if I can get the parts and labor done at the same place. Feedback is much appreciated. |

Good luck. I think you are better off buying a new one. Upgrading a laptop is tricky beyond simple memory and storage upgrades.

I think you'll save yourself a lot of trouble (and possibly money) if you'd just sell this one and get a decent new laptop. Upgrading so many parts will probably give you a lot of headaches, not to mention cooling issues. You don't need a monster to run SC2 on medium settings, so I would go for a trade-in.

Yeah SC2 is heavily optimized. Also, do you mean you want to have your laptop like it was just bought? If it came with a vista disc, just put that in and boot from disc, it will wipe the drive and give you a clean install of vista.

I don't have the vista disc which is the problem. I don't think I recieved one with the laptop. At minimum I want to upgrade the video card with the processor being my second priority. |

I have that same laptop, you cant do it. It has a Nvidia 6150go. It has like 16 shaders and other terrible specs. Just scrap it and begin anew.
