I am a big reader and i am wondering if anyone knows anything about ereaders? With the recent price cuts they are looking more and more attractive to me. Does anyone own/have experience with one? My main concerns are: 1. Price of books - I already own the vast majority of the books I read and I am unsure if it is worth repurchasing em. 2. Battery Life 3. Features 4. Kindle vs Nook - These are the two I am torn between. Leaning towards the Nook atm. Anything else I need to know? |

my wife has a kindle she loves it. She literally has hundreds of books that she has gotten for free. I beleive that the battery life is pretty good since the screen is not backlit it actually looks like the page of a book.

I don't really want an Ipad. I am probably going to buy a new laptop this year and the laptop will cost the same amount but do way more than an Ipad. And I am leaning towards an ereader because of their long battery life and unbacklit screens that can be viewed outside. And as to the library....I go at least three times a week. |

With the iPad you get both stores B&N and Amazon and whatever else is there in the App Store in addition to Apple's iBookstore. Though you did make your point against it that I respect, a backlit LCD screen is nothing like an e-ink screen, and I too would rather read on an e-reader than my iPad. Between the two, go with the Kindle. That's my belief, especially since they have been recently updated and at an excellent price.

I say Kindle if you are looking for the cheapest option (it has a $139 wifi only model) The Nook seems to have better features though, it seems to be overall more impressive, and doesnt have the terrible keyboard of the Kindle. One thing to note about the Nook though, there's been talk about Barnes and Noble becoming the next Blockbuster, they've done terribly lately. Keep that in mind when you buy this, because you likely will not be able to download new books if they go under. Amazon seems to be stable on the other hand, and have done well overall. Also I've heard rumors that they may sell the Kindle at Walmart, which if its true, could be the nail in the coffin for the Nook.

I in no way actually wanted you to buy that tripe tablet known as the iPad.
