a mini is $599 new.Now I dunno what's your expectations for Chrome OS, but from my experience of it, it is just Chrome as in just a browser. You log into the browser and that's it. Just imagine having nothing but Google Chrome running. You can find an ISO image of Chrome OS somewhere, just install into into a VM. Chrome has extensions and it is said it'll be able to run native code, we'll see how that turns out. But don't expect video games, or stand alone apps.

Then again I'm a biased mactard and my opinion is wrong. Thankfully, we have options when it comes to OSes, everyone can use what suits him best ![]() Windows, Mac OS, a GNU/Linux distro, *BSD, Solaris, Haiku, etc... Most people don't know they have more than 2 choices. What I love most about FOSS is I can choose the WM and DE I like. My WM of choice is Fluxbox. Quote:
That wont happen! Microsoft has the OS market for itself. No one has the capacity to knock them out. There are others, but the others have about-ish 10% of the market. The only way to knock out Microsoft is pretty much like how IBM was knocked out. A new technology, or paradigm shift that makes desktop OSes irrelevant. Microsoft is irrelevant in the Web, portable media players, consumer electronics and smartphone market. Here's to hoping the desktop goes the way of the mainframe.

I like my current Ubuntu build too much to change it into the Chrome OS right now. The steps and instructions to convert it is just too complicated for my n00b Linux skills.

Convert it? Chrome OS is more of its own OS. Just download the ISO, burn it and install. That what I did. * I skipped the burn part, because I installed it into a VM
