best system is steams... aka you just join a game your mate right clicks and joins like in xbox.... obvousely this wont work for most RTS's games.... but its a pain when some nub leaves mid match and your tottaly fucked in a nice round of tower defence....

Starcraft 2 is gunna be awesome. I personally love the 3 faction system....makes the game sooo much better.

I havn't played SC2 yet (no beta) and I think the original is still the best RTS ever made.


And to the peopel who say that starcraft was dominated by singular strategies....you were obviously never very good at the game. Just sayin.....watch some match commentaries on yourtube. imo.

so your saying the hundered of videos of someone owning people in the pro arena only using a seige tank and a drop ship dousent count as a domination of singular stratergies, sorry but i dont buy it, its strange i can hammer down a game of Company of Heroes no problem, and every game takes a diffrent way of winning, or to a lesser exstent supcom.... but then I go on starcraft and I either copy a strat iv researched on youtube for a couple of hours or I lose horribly against someone whos using a youtube strat, theres to many hard counters in the game at low tier for anything else

The key in starcraft has always been to be able to switch strategies. ALL strategies have a hard counter in every race for the most part. If you fail to roll with the punches you deserve to lose.

Just because there are good strategies that work against bad players is not evidence that the game doesn't have depth of variety,

True, but the game does lack strategy when you compare it to a good Turn based strategy like Civ 4 or Warlords 4 (Civ is a given, Sid Meier is an expert designer. Warlords 4 may be a surprise to some, considering that it was not well liked when it first came out, but it was patched to fix its issues, primarily with AI, so it works excellently now)

That's why you can't compare RTS to turn based strategy. RTS is not just about strategy and planning, it's also about fast micro-management, actions per minute etc.
