There are new rumours of the 2.7 firmware being released in a couple days, so if that's true then it could still be announced. If it's true.

I don't consider new firmware to be major unless it's a complete redesign

All rumours have 2.7 being a bigger one adding a few new features. Once again these are just rumours and have ranged from stuff like cross game chat to adding PS2 compatibility to those that don't have it.

I never used it at the beginning either. I always had enough PS3 games to keep me busy, even though that was only 2 games for the 1st month or two.
