Sony delays PS3 motion-sensing controller launch
Camera-based motion-sensing controller release shifted from spring 2010 launch to fall; delay to affect all global markets.
Last August, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kaz Hirai placed a tentative launch window of spring 2010 for the PlayStation 3's upcoming motion-sensing controllers. It seems Hirai's original estimate has turned out to be too optimistic, with Sony confirming today that the new controller's release date has now been pushed back to sometime in the fall of this year.
Sony's new motion controller in action.

According to a statement from Sony, the motion-sensing controllers--which as yet don't have an official name--will arrive in "fall 2010 in Japan, Asian regions and countries, North America and Europe/PAL territories." In the statement, Hirai said, "We will continue to work to have a comprehensive portfolio of attractive and innovative games for the Motion Controller, not only from SCE Worldwide Studios but also from the third party developers and publishers, whom we have been working closely with."
The delay pushes the PS3 controller's launch closer to the Xbox 360's tentative date for Project Natal, with Xbox division chief Robbie Bach pegging a holiday 2010 release for Microsoft's motion-sensing system. As for what games will initially support the PS3 controllers, Hirai outlined some key titles during last year's Tokyo Game Show, including Ape Escape, Echochrome 2, Eccentric Slider, Sing and Draw, Champions of Time, Motion Party, The Shoot, and Tower. Other games such as Pain, Flower, Hustle Kings, High Velocity Bowling, and Eye Pets will be made compatible via downloadable updates. Capcom has also confirmed that the "Alternative Edition" of Resident Evil 5 will feature motion-sensing control compatibility for its Japanese release.

Pirate - you do the same thing every time.

3 delays -- one of which not even being an MS game - does not even come close to equalling the number of delays the PS3 has seen. You're coming off as very desperate and nobody's buying it! The perception that the PS3 is the "delaystation" has not changed since you've been trying to make those couple delays a factor.

This is absolutely no surprise, though. We haven't heard anything about the thing and it's supposed to be released in a couple months.

Actually, how many Sony games or anything have been "delayed"?

Most of them never had release dates, you can't delay something without a release date.

Microsoft and Nintendo, in this case, would be just as guilty.

Dude, just deal with the delay of your own system. Do you see people mentioning PS3 delays every time something goes wrong on the 360 or Wii? You're slinging mud for the sake of slinging mud when nobody else on this entire site is mentioning any other console. Who's going to look bad when you're defending something nobody's attacking?

But...seriously...not having a release date is better than a game being delayed? Good God, man. If a game has no release date then we shouldn't be seeing it for years. There's no high ground for a dev or pub who shows a game years in advance with no intentions of releasing it in the near future.

Eh... yes.

When has that ever been true? Games are, and always have been, shown WAY before there's a release date locked down.
