Insomniac Games hasn’t said or shown much about their recently announced threequel Resistance 3, however, the developer has confirmed that the game will release sometime in 2011.

While it had been assumed that Insomniac was hard at work on a follow up to their 2008 PlayStation 3 shooter Resistance 2, we hadn’t heard anything concrete about the game, aside from leaked images of a billboard, until Gamescom 2010 when the first official teaser trailer was released. But even that didn’t really provide any answers about the game.

And unlike the highly polished in-game demo of BioShock Infinite that Irrational Games showed off at Gamescom, even though the game isn’t due out until 2012, the Resistance 3 trailer was entirely live-action and didn’t include any gameplay. If 2011 is the target for the game, it would seem that the game would have to be much farther into development than Insomniac is willing to acknowledge. Stupid secretive jerks.

Sadly, Insomniac has said that it won’t be revealing anything new during next week’s PAX 2010, so it looks like it will be a little while before we hear anything more about Resistance 3.

I was just playing Resistance 2 co-op there, it's still fun. I hope they bring that back.

ya, co op was always fun...i just hope they add more to it, it did feel repetitive at times but still awesome, although i always ended up being a medic cuz everyone kept dying...

The co-op is, by far, the only truly great part of it. It's squad/class based objectives and when you get a lot of people on, it gets insane with the number of enemies.
