Default Avatars!

The size limit is just too limiting.
How about something like 160 x 160.

I would be in favor of 120x120, maybe more if it doesn't increase the size of the sidebar with your name, title, Join Date etc.

Dying to buy a PS3 for Uncharted 2 but my pride says no. And I still love EA.

Size is not a problem for me at all.
Why do we need massive avatars?

I'd hardly consider 120x120 "massive"...

Half of the horizontal space on the sidebar is wasted anyway (at least on a 1280x1024 resolution, not sure about others).

It was an exaggeration.

Just saying, of all the problems on this board you guys choose the avatar size to complain about.

Sure it's easily fixed, but of very little importance.

Nobody's "complaining" except maybe E6600, and what's wrong with getting the easy fixes done first? I really doubt anyone's going to be worse off with 100x100 or 120x120 avatars. I haven't seen a complaint about these forums since I don't know when.

Can nobody take a suggestion?

It's nothing we have control over. I'm pretty sure I have the power to turn avatars off all together, but nothing much beyond that. It is on the list of things we have for Dennis to look at but the last time we were in touch with him, he was busy so he didn't have much time to look at things.

He had the time to show us how to change the numbers on the front page, and we deemed that to be far more important than avatar size. I haven't got around to sending him another email since then, but I might get around to it someday to see about fixing some other things around the site. Maybe next week. But as Deathmonkey said avatar size is a minor issue on our list of things to change. Dennis has said he has no problem with the avatars being bigger, but do not expect anything like 160x160 because that would bug me. I'm fine with the avatars as they are now, but a jump to maybe 85x85 wouldn't annoy me too much.

Make the avatars as large as possible without being annoyingly huge. The left side of the post has room for the avatar to grow a bit more. It could be just my eyes, but it seems to me that 160x160 wont mess the formating.

BTW, we fixed the numbers?

So you don't know how to change the avatar size limit? Huh, too bad.

160 vertical pixels is too much; according to my Screen Ruler widget all the information on the left side of this post is around 180-190 pixels vertically. Adding another 80 to that doesn't seem like a good idea.

I like 100x100, personally. Seems like that would be enough for most any type of avatar while only stretching some posts minimally.
